Bioware has a new studio head

Since longtime game director, key figure in the development of Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and studio head Casey Hudson departed the company in 2020 after EA decided to let Anthem quietly die a death, the studio has been on the lookout for a new manager.

Now Gary McKay, who has been acting as interim manager since Hudson's departure has been formally appointed as studio general manager. McKay, who has served as a franchise director at EA, director of Propaganda games and general manager of Navigator Games, has a big job ahead of him. Bioware has Dragon Age 4 on the horizon, a new Mass Effect in the early stages of development and an increasingly poor reputation after the flops of Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem. Hopefully, McKay has a plan for getting the studio's reputation, and its games, back on track.
