Persona 6 is in development
We're coming up on 5 years since Persona 5 released, and the 25 year anniversary of Atlus's JRPG spin-off that has taken on a life of its own. Alongside a 25th anniversary announcement of merchandise and collaborations, Atlus also confirmed for the first time that the next full Persona game is in development.
And that's really all we know. Japanese speaking fans discovered recruitment ads for new developers to join Atlus's team including interviews where Atlus and SEGA director Naoto Hiraoka said "we will have to create a '6' that exceeds '5'" and appealed for new staff to help. This confirmation comes alongside Atlus teasing 7 new announcements over the next year and a newly released poster set including all the Persona protagonists with a space left for a newcomer.
As for those other announcements? They could be anything from mobile games to other media spinoffs and anime adaptations. That said, given Sega's recent Steam push that has seen its Judgement franchise potentially lose its protagonist, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to imagine PC ports of some of the older, now harder to find Persona games. At least, that's the ideal scenario. Worst case ... Persona keyring anyone?
