Procedural pirate RPG King of Seas will let you rule the waves this May

Publisher Team 17 and indie developer 3DClouds are teaming up for an action RPG on the high seas next month as King of Seas launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on May 25th. The top-down, procedurally generated pirate adventure promises an ever-changing world of oceans to sail and ships to battle as you work your way up from amateur buccaneer to the titular King of Seas.

A demo for the game is available on Steam right now, so eager potential pirates can dive right into exploring a dense world filled with exciting events to find and charismatic characters to meet, alongside side activities like hunting for sunken treasure, trading booty and hauling in rare fish.

With an art style reminiscent of equal parts Sea of Thieves mixed with the perspective of the classic Sid Meier’s Pirates! , 3DClouds’ King of Seas also boasts a dynamically changing map to explore, customisable ships and a weather and navigation system that requires privateers to stay on their toes as they sail the seven seas.

An adaptive difficult multiplier that raises as your reputation does makes for a challenging high seas adventure as ship combat abilities ranging from flamethrowers to voodoo rituals promise to keep naval combat engaging as you round skull islands and intercept merchant ships. King of Seas promises to offer plenty of piratical action when it launches next month. You can watch the release date trailer below.
