Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Marketing Strategy Revives Sunset Overdrive Accounts
As part of the social media promotional campaign before the release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Insomniac Games has allowed the platformer's cast of character to take control of its Twitter account – fan fiction style.
This has resulted in a series of rumours and speculations, including the resurrection of the abandoned Sunset Overdrive. Fans of the Xbox exclusive started freaking out when the account of franchise “mascot” Fizzie posted for the first time in three years.
Unfortunately for them, this is all part of the promotion for the RYNO 8 weapon in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which allows players to summon characters and items from a variety of franchises, including Sly Cooper, Uncharted, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
So is there a possibility for Sunset Overdrive's comeback? No, probably not: Sony technically own the brand, but it’s unlikely to ever use it. However, one fan did notice that Fizzie is also hidden in that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart evolution footage from late last week, but it is probably just an Easter egg.
We remind you that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive and it will be available on June 11th.
Are you a fan of Sunset Overdrive? Would you like to see a comeback of this franchise? We'd love to hear from you!
