Singularity 6 raises $30M for its new MMO: Palia
It is through The Hollywood Reporter that we learned that Singularity 6, a studio composed of veterans from Riot Games, Blizzard and Zynga, just raised $30M through Series B funding for its debut video game: Palia. Among the investors are FunPlus Ventures and Mitch Lasky, a former entrepreneur and video game executive.
Obviously, Singularity 6 is very pleased with the numerous positive responses that Palia's reveal generated:
“The incredible response from the community has further invigorated us in our pursuit to deliver an immersive online world where players can feel like they truly belong. Creating that experience may have seemed like a daunting prospect, but with all of the support and encouragement we’ve received, we are more heartened than ever.” - Anthony Leung, CEO and co-founder of Singularity 6
Palia is a PC MMO focused on developing social links. You incarnate a Human, an extinct species, that will have to learn how to coexist with other creatures.
As you progress in the game, you'll meet other players, start to build a community and take part in many activities such as building your house and cultivating your crops. You'll also be able to develop friendship and romantic relationships. Finally, you'll be able to fight but keep in mind that it's not the objective of the game since the main goal is to learn to coexist with Mother Nature.
No release date has been announced yet. Palia is in pre-alpha and will be available for testing during the summer 2021.
