As part of the 30th anniversary event for the Sonic series, Mojang have teamed up with Sega and to bring the character (and the series) to the ever popular Minecraft.

The trailer showcases a lot of content that is now available in the 'Bedrock' versions of the game which include the Switch, Xbox One/X|S, PlayStation 4/5, Windows 10 Edition, iOS, Android and Fire/TV.

The trailer shows off a variety of characters including, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and Amy who have unique animations in Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone. Robotnik is featured as a boss, boost pads have been added and a mechanic that allows the character to run upside-down round the iconic loops from the series.

Sonic-themed fireworks, rings, 'badniks' and other environmental art blocks are included such as the totem poles- seen in the trailer with villager heads. Not to mention Shadow's bike from Shadow the Hedgehog makes a reappearance and the Tornado, Tails' plane from the Sonic Adventure series.

Along with this, The Hive, a popular minigames server in the game, are hosting a two-week server-hub takeover featuring mini-games and a few festive surprises. They also teased a special event for one of the weekends.
