Sony's PlayStation app hits 100 million installs

PlayStation's mobile app has rocketed up the Android charts in the months following the launch of the PS5, hitting 100 million installs this week. The app, which allows players to manage their friends list, trophies and console, is a useful tool that has proved unexpectedly popular since the launch of Sony's next-generation console.

The app, which also allows for voice chat and remote downloading to your PlayStation console, also enables remote play for mobile devices, a feature particularly useful given Sony's increasing desire to push PlayStation Now as a cloud alternative to Microsoft's Game Pass. Frankly, it's equally likely that the app is so popular because it provides the easiest way to browse the still rather clunky PlayStation Store. Either way, hopefully, this increased userbase prompts Sony to keep adding to their already feature-rich application.
