Yakuza Spinoff Judgment is getting a next-gen remaster

Action detective thriller and Yakuza spin-off Judgment is receiving a new coat of paint with a PS5, Xbox Series X and Stadia (remember Stadia?) remaster. The remake, previously kept quiet by publisher SEGA, launched alongside its announcement and is available now on digital storefronts.

The well-received 2019 game takes Yakuza's gameplay and setting and inserts a wholly unrelated noir mystery plot and new protagonist Takayuki Yagami, ex-lawyer and private detective who sets out to solve a string of gruesome murders. While the plot is different in tone from the gangster melodrama of Yakuza, its combination of street brawling action and kooky sidequests continues.

Remastered for next-gen platforms, this new version of Judgment includes updated graphics and 60 frames per second gameplay coupled with shorter loading times. The remaster also comes with all the games DLC, from extra health items to cosmetic upgrades for your detective agency.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the games developers, has also launched a countdown to "Judgment Day" on their website, suggesting more is yet to come. Given the success of Yakuza 7's launch last year, it is entirely possible we could see a Judgment sequel announced when the countdown runs out on 7th May 2021.
